CBB Sports Triangular 2011
 
The much anticipated annual CBB sports day ended successfully with several member companies showcasing their sporting abilities at the P. Sara Stadium (Oval) in Colombo on Saturday, 25 June 2011.

MAS Slimline A (34/1 in 2.3 over's) emerged champions in the cricket tournament beating MAS Slimline B (33/ all out in 5.0 over's) by 4 wickets, while Commercial Bank emerged Champs in Netball beating Quantum Clothing 13/4. The Badminton Championship trophy was awarded to MAS Holdings who remained unbeaten during the league stage of the tournament and winning the final 4 games to 1 against HSBC.

The annual sports day is a combination of fun and goodwill. As proceeds from the event are donated towards the English Language Teacher Training project (CBB- ELT), aimed at building the capacity of local English teachers in rural parts of Sri Lanka. The CBB ´┐ŻELT project is supported by the British Council in association with the National Institute of Education, the Ministry of Education and the University of Cambridge.

The Council for Business with Britain (CBB) was formed in 2000 and exists to promote two-way trade between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom and to maintain and foster a harmonious business relationship between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. The CBB has a membership of 140 companies and is headed by a committee consisting of Sri lankan and British nationals with the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka as its Patron. The CBB is affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

HSBC was the principal sponsor of the event for the sixth year, while co- sponsors included Aviva NDB Insurance, Etisalat Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Hayleys PLC, John Keells Logistics Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Macwoods Limited, Norfolk Foods (Pvt) Ltd. and Healthcare sponsor Lanka Hospitals.
